Kingsford man sentenced for probation violation

IRON MOUNTAIN – A prison sentence has been handed down to a Kingsford man who violated the terms of his probation that were ordered when he was convicted of attempted human trafficking last year.

Johnathan Terrence Vyvyan, 25, was sentenced Tuesday in Dickinson County Circuit Court to serve two and a half years in prison with credit for 278 days already served.

Vyvyan was sentenced on two probation violation counts alleging that he failed to report for a probation appointment then lied about it, and that he was in contact on three occasions with a one and a half-year-old child.

In December 2014, Vyvyan was sentenced to nine months already served in the Dickinson County Jail and five years of probation for one felony count of attempted human trafficking and one felony count of failure to comply with the sex offender registration act.

The human trafficking charge stems from two incidents in which Vyvyan transported a 16-year-old girl and a 24-year-old woman to a man’s home for the purposes of prostitution.
