Snowmobile crash injures Minn. man
SHERMAN TOWNSHIP – Deputies from the Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Office responded to an injury snowmobile accident in Sherman Township Saturday, according to a Sheriff’s Office press release.
At about 6 p.m., a snowmobile driven by 24-year-old Joe Leibel of St. Paul, Minnesota was traveling along the Gay Sands when the machine struck a buried obstruction, causing him to be ejected.
Leibel sustained injuries to a shoulder. He was transported to UP Health System-Portage hospital by Mercy EMS for treatment.
Deputies were also assisted at the scene by Sherman Township Volunteer Fire Department.
