Saatio escapes custody again

SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Fla. – John Wesley Saatio is on the run for a third time, after escaping from a state prison van traveling through Northwest Florida, Florida-based ABC affiliate WEAR reported Sunday.

Saatio made his getaway from a prison van enroute to Houghton around 11 p.m. Saturday, after the van stopped at the rest stop on Eastbound I-10 near the Highway 87 exit in Santa Rosa County, Florida.

Saatio is charged with home evasion, destruction of police property, and probation violation for attempted failure to register as a sex offender. He escaped Houghton County Sheriff’s Office custody in June 2015 after a court hearing in Houghton. One year later, he escaped Costa Rican police who had arrested him in June. The Costa Rican police recaptured him two days later.

Saatio, 35, is a 6-foot-tall white male with brown hair and blue eyes. He weighs about 185 pounds.

Saatio has two tattoos on his left arm, one with bones and skulls and the other with a dragon and skull tribal-style tattoo. He also has two tattoos on his right arm, a yin yang tribal-style tattoo and another dragon tattoo.

Authorities searched the area for several hours but couldn’t find him.

Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Rich Aloy said Saatio is in civilian clothes and was last seen wearing a shirt, shorts and sneakers. Aloy warns the public that Saatio has an extensive criminal record.

The Florida sheriff’s office have information that Saatio may have the left area. Call 911 with any information on Saatio’s location.
