Ontonagon County craft show weekend

For the Gazette

The eighth Annual Ewen Holiday Magic Craft show took place this past Saturday at the Ewen Centennial Hall. The show brought vendors and shoppers from all over the Western U.P. and northern Wisconsin.

The Magic Craft Show began as a fundraiser for SONCO Ambulance and the Ontonagon County Cancer Society. The money comes in through a raffle that takes place every year at the show. The show was put on by the Quilt Guild.

The Magic Craft Show had vendors with hand-crafted merchandise, along with commercial businesses. Vendors were lined up on both sides of the Centennial Hall and throughout the middle of the hall. In addition to the many vendors, there was also a concession stand.

“This is a great place to hold this. We really appreciate the support from the Ewen Civic Association for allowing us to have the show here,” Vicki Kurtti of the Quilt Guild said.

Numerous Christmas wreaths hanging on the walls are a popular part of the show. With temperatures on Saturday in the 50s, it may not have seemed like time for a holiday craft show. That didn’t stop people from walking out with holiday gifts.

The Ontonagon community of Greenland also had a craft show on Saturday at the former Greenland Elementary School.
