U.P. Arts and Culture Alliance work underway
Group seeks help from ArtsLab
Upper Peninsula Arts and Culture Alliance
HOUGHTON – Arts and culture leaders across the Upper Peninsula have commenced work towards the establishment of a U.P. Arts and Culture Alliance (UPACA) to better respond to the local and regional needs of our communities. Twenty two leaders from municipalities, universities, and arts organizations from the eastern, central, and western U.P. recently met at Michigan Technologicsl University’s Great Lakes Research Center to address the merits of working together.
The group has sought assistance from Minneapolis-based ArtsLab, a program of Arts Midwest, which works to strengthen the impact of arts organizations in urban and rural communities through leadership and strategic development. This project is being supported in part by the Michigan Council for the Arts & Cultural Affairs and the Central Upper Peninsula Planning and Development Regional Commission.
