HANCOCK — The annual Heikinpäivä festival kicks off in earnest next week with a pair of enrichment classes, and there’s still opportunity for folks to take part.

There are still seats available in the jouhikko playing workshop on Monday, Jan. 13, as well as for the 5-string kantele workshop on Wednesday, Jan. 15. Through these informal, enjoyable sessions, musicians of all experience levels will learn the techniques of playing these ancient Finnish instruments, with the potential of learning some tunes by the end of the evening!
