Effective Monday Mar. 23 at 8 a.m., in response to the Covid-19 outbreak, the Houghton County Courthouse will be closed to the general public but will remain staffed.

If you have business to conduct with one of the offices in the Courthouse, we encourage you to call or email them directly or go to the Houghton County Website, houghtoncounty.net. In some cases, you may be able to make an appointment and enter the building.

The deadline for individuals to pay delinquent property taxes to avoid foreclosure has been extended to May 29 or 30 days after the present State declared emergency is terminated, whichever comes first.

The Houghton County Transfer Station will remain open to the public.

The Houghton/Keweenaw County Veterans Affairs Office, located at the Houghton County Memorial Airport, will remain open but you must have an appointment to enter. Walk-in Wednesdays will be suspended until further notice.
