Alfred Erickson American Legion Post 186 presents certificates of appreciation
HANCOCK — Alfred Erickson American Legion Post 186 presented certificates of appreciation to community members at its regular meeting on Sept. 2. The awards were in recognition of their generous donations of support to the post.
Certificates of Appreciation were awarded to the following:
Scott Lampinen, owner of Portage Lake Construction, donated time, labor, equipment and material for a much-needed sewer repair project at the post.
Tim Seaton was recognized for serving as the bugler at Memorial Day services for many years.
Graham Jaehnig of the Daily Mining Gazette was thanked for his outstanding media coverage of Post 186.
Phi Kappa Tau, represented by its president John Frischman, was recognized for their help with the semi-annual post spaghetti dinner fundraiser and also for their assistance with a grant application.
Awards were also presented to legion members for their length of service.

Honorary Life Memberships were also awarded to recognize members for their exceptional service and accomplishments.

Post Commander Rod Guilbault stated that Post 186 members are grateful for the support they have received from the community through the years by attending their Memorial Day services, supporting the Post’s Color Guard in parades, purchasing tickets for the Post’s semi-annual spaghetti dinner fundraisers, and most recently through contributions to their Capital Campaign for building improvements. This community support allows the Post to continue serving veterans, their families and community programs. Guilbault said, “The individuals receiving these awards exemplify the outstanding spirit of giving and support of veterans that exists in the Copper Country.”
American Legion Post 186 will be holding a Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser on Sept. 27 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Post home. Service will be curbside pickup only.
