Upper Peninsula State Bank anounces plan to open office in Houghton

HOUGHTON — Upper Peninsula State Bank is pleased to announce their plans to expand to Houghton County and the Copper Country! The bank will be located at 906 Razorback Drive, Suite No. 1 and is excited to be bringing their Upper Peninsula focused brand of banking to that beautiful area of the Upper Peninsula. Because they already have many customers in the Copper Country – both in deposits as well as projects they have funded, the bank had frequently been asked about opening offices in that area. Further, their officers have strong business and personal ties in the Copper Country. They recently opened a new banking office in Marquette, Michigan and anticipate opening the new Houghton office in the second quarter of 2022.

Upper Peninsula State Bank President and CEO, David C. Williams stated, “The Copper Country is a thriving and progressive area, and we are excited about bringing our full complement of banking services to the great citizens and businesses of this area. These include commercial, mortgage, and consumer loans, a full array of deposit products, e-banking services, and brokerage services — all with a client and results-driven focus. Personally, as a native of the Copper Country and graduate of Michigan Technological University, I am very happy to be bringing our brand of banking home to this area.”

Chairman of the Board, Robert N. Bink commented, “For 120 years, we have served and focused solely on the financial needs of the citizens and businesses of the Upper Peninsula. This is a great and exciting step for our bank and for those whom our banking services and technologies will be able to better reach.” Mr. Bink went on to state that “Upper Peninsula State Bank is consistently recognized as one of the highest performing banks in the State of Michigan and it gives us great pleasure to bring that security and technology to the Copper Country!”

Upper Peninsula State Bank is a full service bank established in 1902 and headquartered in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula with offices in Escanaba, Iron Mountain, Gladstone and Marquette. The Bank represents great levels of safety and soundness, the highest levels of capital and reserves, and holds the highest ratings from the nation’s top independent rating agencies, Bauer Financial, and Weiss Ratings.
