Meat delivery truck rolls on M26

A meat delivery truck rolled over on M26 near the Houghton-Ontonagon county line Thursday.

The driver of a Vollwerth’s delivery truck said a rear tire blew causing the truck to shift its cargo at about 4 p.m. while traveling west. The driver then lost control, crossing the center line and rolling over into the ditch, according to the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office.

The rim of the truck caused a large gouge in the pavement, requiring repair by Michigan Department of Transportation.

The driver was treated by Mercy Ambulance personnel for minor injuries.

Adams Township First Responders, Twin Lakes Fire and Rescue, Michigan State Police and Superior Service assisted.

One lane of M26 was closed for several hours to allow for cleanup.
