4-vehicle crash injures 1 on US 41

CALUMET — A driver was transported to UP Health System — Portage after a four-vehicle crash in Franklin Township Thursday afternoon. Driver distraction was a factor in the crash, the MSP said. The crash occurred about 5:55 p.m. on U.S. 41, where a vehicle was stopped in the northbound lane waiting to turn onto Boston Location Road, the Michigan State Police said in a release Thursday. Ontonagon man pleads guilty to embezzlement

LANSING — An Ontonagon man pleaded guilty in Macomb County Monday to embezzling nearly $300,000 from an elderly woman for whom he served as attorney. Richard Filbey, 62, pleaded guilty to one count of embezzlement from a vulnerable adult of $100,000 or more and one count of tax fraud for embezzling funds from an elderly woman while acting as her power of attorney. As part of the plea in 16th Circuit Court, Filbey agreed to more than $280,000 in restitution.
