HOUGHTON — The beginning of the Aviation courses for Michigan Tech’s Summer Youth Program will commence Monday. The focus of this round of courses at the university’s program will instruct 20 students partaking on what it takes to become a pilot, including the exams and tests required. On Wednesday, June 19, a Juneteenth Celebration hosted by Residence Education Housing Services and Student Leadership and Involvement will be held from 1-3 p.m. in front of the Douglass Houghton Hall dorm building on Michigan Tech’s Campus. Only a drill: Emergency response training held at Tech

HOUGHTON — Several local emergency responder groups participated in a disaster preparedness training Tuesday on Michigan Tech’s campus. The goal of the training was, “to evaluate our readiness to respond to situations,” said Chief Brian Cadwell of the university’s police department, who led the exercise. “We do these every so often.
