Free sports medicine community event to network with Aspirus health experts

HOUGHTON – Keeping you on top of your game. That’s what the area’s most complete sports medicine and orthopedic team will discuss during a free Sports Medicine Community Health Event on Monday, Oct. 21, in Houghton.

The event takes place at 5:30 p.m. in the Memorial Union Ballroom at Michigan Technological University. Attendees will have the opportunity to talk directly with Aspirus Keweenaw surgeons, sports medicine physicians, dietitians and therapists who are here to help you get back in the game. Appetizers by Executive Chef Eric Karvonen and light refreshments will be provided. Participants must register in advance. Call 337-6541 to reserve your spot.

Aspirus health experts will cover:

• Prevention and treatment of sports-related injuries.

• Nutrition to enhance performance and support recovery.

• Scoliosis.

• Concussion management.

We encourage everyone to bring questions,” said Sharon Fisher, Aspirus Upper Peninsula Regional Director of Therapy Services. “You’ll learn that all of the excellent care you or your athlete may need is right here, close to home.”
