CCISD board approves expansion of welding and manufacturing lab
The Copper Country Intermediate School District Board of Education held its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2019.
CTE Director Shawn Kolbus and Welding/Manufacturing Instructor Tim Stites gave a presentation on a proposed expansion of the welding/manufacturing lab. The expansion would move machine tool equipment into an existing classroom and open up room to provide additional welding booths and increase fabrication space in the welding lab. This plan was discussed and supported by the program’s advisory committee which is made up of local business and industry professionals. Kolbus also stated that advisory committee members offered labor and material support for the project. The CCISD Construction Trades program will also be involved in the project. The CCISD approved the project unanimously.
