Three Keweenaw waterfalls you can see from your car right now

KEWEENAW COUNTY, Michigan — Spring is here, believe it or not with all the snow still covering the Keweenaw forests. In the spirit of thawing waterfalls and getting outside after a long winter, Visit Keweenaw is sharing three waterfalls you can easily see right now.

n Nestled on the shores of Lac La Belle is a serene, small waterfall dubbed Haven Falls. The small park is along Lac La Belle Road south off of US-41. It’s about one mile east of Delaware. Follow the road about 4.5 miles to the fork at the bottom of the hill and turn right. Haven Falls Park is on the right about half a mile down. The falls are at the back of the park and can be seen from your car. There is a footbridge in the park and sitting tables for a perfect picnic. There are bathrooms and grills at Haven Falls Park.

On the west side of the Keweenaw, two more waterfalls are flowing.

n Check out Eagle River Lower Falls this spring. You can find Eagle River Lower Falls on the south side of M-26 where it enters Eagle River.

The falls are on the site of the original Lake Superior Fuse Company, and remains of the dam still can be seen in the 60-foot-wide river.

You can also access the Upper Falls despite the M-26 bridge outage if you head east, not from Copper Harbor.

The dam puts the falls at a heigh of over 60 feet. This waterfall is powerful, and the sound is crisp and flowing.

There is a walking bridge to observe the falls from above.

n Finally, try to see Jacob’s Falls near Eagle River. This waterfall is located about three miles northeast of Eagle River on the south side of M-26 and is visible from the road. The small falls drops 40 feet, crashing into a rock bottom and flowing through a culvert under M-26. There are trails to explore up the side of the rocks and into the woods upstream.
