Recreation survey available for Grant Township

Grant Township is working with the Western Upper Peninsula Planning and Development Region (WUPPDR) to update their joint five-year recreation plan. In addition to guiding improvements to the township’s recreation facilities and sites, the plan will ensure the county is eligible for certain grants from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Weatherization program helps low-income Michiganders reduce heating bills

LANSING – The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer are raising awareness during Weatherization Month of a program that reduces household energy costs by an average of $283 per year – benefitting approximately 1,300 low-income families in Michigan. HANCOCK – Fall courses are underway at the Finnish American Folk School’s Festival Ruska in Hancock. Registration is still open for some classes and workshops, including two unique musical opportunities. Kay Seppala will teach 5-String Kantele for Beginners in the Finnish American Heritage Center Hall in Hancock on Tuesdays, Oct. 12 through Nov. 9 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The kantele, a plucked lap harp, is the national instrument of Finland. Gov. Whitmer announces Michigan police departments awarded $1 million to support officers and public safety across the state

LANSING - Building on her MI Safe Communities plan to reduce violent crime, Governor Whitmer today announced that police agencies across the state of Michigan will receive additional funding to boost public safety initiatives.
