Mathew ‘Matt’ Paul Kayser

HERSHEY, Penn. – Mathew P. Kayser, 23, of Cloquet, passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2016, in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

He was born May 19, 1993 in Hancock, to Mark and Marie (Soumis) Kayser.

Mathew graduated from Cloquet High School in 2011 and graduated from UMD with a B.S. degree in chemistry and biochemistry. He was currently attending Penn State Medical College.

Mathew was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Parish. He enjoyed singing, playing the guitar and piano with family and friends.

Mathew’s funny and witty personality made everyone around him laugh. He was a smart, caring, talented, lovable person and was truly what his name meant, “A Gift of the Lord.”

Mathew was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, William Kayser; and his maternal grandparents, Jerome and Irma Soumis; and paternal great-grandmother, Margaret Berger.

He is survived by his parents, Mark and Marie Kayser; brother, Michael; sisters, Mariah, Madeline and Mary; paternal grandmother, Karen (John) Strohl; paternal great-grandfather, Dominic Berger; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was loved and will be missed by many.

Visitation was Monday, August 15, 2016, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet with a Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m.

The visitation was Tuesday, August 16, 2016, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Cloquet.

Celebrant was Father Justin Fish with music performed by pianist, Mary Smith and cantor, Regina Roemhildt. Pallbearers are Michael Kayser, Dalton Gust, Josiah Peterson, John Scheurer, Andy Wappes, Jared Anderson, Karl Palmquist and Trey Gust.

Interment service were held in New Calvary Cemetery.
