David James Schneider

HOUGHTON — David James Schneider, 50, of Houghton, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday evening, December 27, 2016, at his home following an apparent heart attack.

He was born on July 20, 1966, in Owosso, to Audrey Johnson Schneider and the late James Robert Schneider.

He attended the Ashley Schools in Ashley, where he was salutatorian of the class of 1984. He also attended Michigan Tech in the Business Department, where he graduated on the dean’s list. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.

He worked in many local restaurants, eventually working at Hardees, working his way up to district manager of the U.P.

He married Christine Schneider of Hancock on August 26, 1989, making their home  in Calumet.

In 2006, he settled in Ripley with his girlfriend, Angela Anderson, before moving to Houghton.

In school, he played football, basketball, ran track and was in the National Honor Society. He was also an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping with family.

Besides his father, he was also preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, and by several aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his mother, Audrey Schneider; brothers, Doug (Loretta) and Duane (Lyna); several aunts and uncles; his wife, Christine Schneider and children, Jennifer, Robert and Hannah; girlfriend, Angela Anderson and children Emily, Addison, and Alexis; and nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be at Grace Christian Fellowship Church on Pine Street in Calumet, on Saturday, January 7, 2017, at 11 a.m. Interment will be at the Ford Cemetery in Elsie.

The O’Neill-Dennis Funeral Home of Hancock, is assisting with the arrangements.
