Ernestine (Teena) Kin

GREENLAND – Ernestine (Teena) Kin, 77, of Greenland, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2017, at her home with her loving family by her side.

She was born at home in Polar, Wisconsin, to Herman and Ella (Feldt) Brandt in 1939. Teena moved to Michigan as a child with her family.

She attended school in Winona, receiving her G.E.D. at Ontonagon Area Schools.

In 1956, she married Karl Kin at St. Peter & Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hancock. They made their home in Greenland.

Teena was a long-time member of the Greenland United Methodist Church and active in the U.M.W.

She was employed in the dietary department at the Ontonagon Memorial Hospital for 30 years, retiring in 1998.

Teena was a mentor to her family and friends. All that knew her, could count on her for anything.

She is survived by her son, Joe (Julie); grandchildren, Jason (Wendy), Brian (Shannon), Danny and Doug (Liz) Kin; great-grandchildren, Timothy, Hailee, Kole, Klayton and a new great-grandson on the way; a brother, Bob (Pat) of Georgia; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, daughters-in law and several loving nieces and nephews.

Teena was preceded in death by her husband, Karl in March of 2016; a son, Timothy Robert Kin; two infant daughters and two brothers and a sister.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2017, at 1 p.m. at the Greenland United Methodist Church. Friends may call at the church from 12 p.m. until the time of the service.

The Cane Funeral Home of Ontonagon is assisting the family.
