Barbara J Belisle

Barbara was born in Oneco Township, Michigan, on May 22, 1940, to parents Matt Koski and Ida Rinkinen Koski (both deceased.)

She was a graduate of the Suomi College business program, and prior to raising her four children, worked as a Legal Assistant.

She was preceded in death by her father; her mother; brothers, Rudy and Gordon; and her sisters, Dorothy, Viola and Virginia.

She is survived by her husband, Philip Belisle, of 56 years; her sister, Annette Larson (Bill-deceased) of Ishpeming; and four children, Roberta Wright (Fred-deceased) of Birmingham, Alabama, Susan Leonard of Boulder, Colorado, Dr. Kristina Belisle Jones (Carl) of Akron, Ohio, and Michael Belisle (Jana) of Rockford; and ten grandchildren.

Barbara dearly loved her family. In that regard, she devotedly supported her husband, Philip, as he earned his engineering degrees, served in the military, and worked in industry.

Her four wonderful children also received her devoted love and support as they grew up and all earned their college degrees in either business, nursing, music or architecture.

Following the completion of their college education, she was very proud of their careers – which were all very notable. She also was very proud and loving of her grandchildren with ages ranging from eight through 31.

After her husband retired in 1996, they moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where they enjoyed a slower lifestyle that included spending more time visiting their family. They also traveled extensively throughout the United States, Caribbean, Mexico, Europe, etc.

The funeral service will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 2061 Patton Chapel Road, Birmingham, Alabama, (205-822-4480), on Tuesday the 28th at 10 a.m. with visitation at 9 a.m.

Interment (with the family) will follow the Funeral Mass at the Columbarium and Memorial Garden on the church grounds.
