Gladys Dooley Roman

LAURIUM — Gladys Dooley Roman, 93, passed away on Monday, March 12, 2018, at the Omega House in Houghton. Her death was due to congestive heart failure.

The former Gladys Alcala was born July 5, 1924, in Kansas. She was the daughter of Manuel and Francis (Figueroa) Alcala.

She married Arthur Dooley in Colorado in 1944. They moved to the Copper Country with their three sons in 1953. They later divorced.

She married Frank “Poncho” Roman in 1978. They resided in Cornucopia, Wisconsin. After Poncho’s death, she returned to live in Laurium.

She is survived by sons, Willard (Marge) Dooley of Hancock, Tom (Carol) Dooley of Washington, Stephen (Lois) Dooley of Washington; a daughter, Lillian (Rodney) O’Brien of Laurium; step-sons, Jim (Marge) Roman of Wisconsin, Larry (Dee) Roman of Iowa and Ken Roman of Alabama; a brother, Jesse (Madeleine) Alcala of California; half-brother, David Alcala of Colorado; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers, one sister, two grandsons and one great-granddaughter.

There will be no public services held.
