Mildred ‘Millie’ Lampinen

HANCOCK — Mildred “Millie” Lampinen, 98, formerly of Hancock and Arbor Green, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2019, at PortagePointe in Hancock.

She was born on September 24, 1920, in Onnela (Stanton Township) to the late Arthur and Hilma (Jampsa) Lampinen, and she attended the Onnela schools.

Millie worked as a surgical nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Hancock for many years. She later worked for Dr. Barrios, Dr. Moyer, and Dr. Belej at their medical offices. After retirement, she worked for Janis Home Health Care for many more years.

She was an active member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Hancock and belonged to the Stanton Township Senior Citizens organization. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, and assisted at the church funeral lunch committee. She also enjoyed traveling across the country to visit her many relatives.

Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by four sisters, Irene (Bill) Ovist, Florence (Al) Westerholm, Mabel (Richard) Singer, and Leona Allread; and five brothers, Wilbert (Edna), Ormand, Robert (Ruth), Walter (Debbie), and Wesley; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Niemi-Lampinen.

She is survived by two brothers, Bernie (Hester) and Earl Lampinen; a sister-in-law, Elaine Lampinen; a brother-in-law, Bill Allread; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2019, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, with Rev. Peter Vorhes to officiate.

Burial will be in the Liminga Cemetery.

Friends may call at the church for an hour before the services on Thursday.
