Alfred Arnold Porkka
BELLEVUE, WASH. — Alfred Arnold Porkka of Bellevue, Washington passed away Wednesday July 17, 2019 at Evergreen Hospice Center in Kirkland, Washington.
He was born on November 16, 1930 in Liminga, to the late John and Hannah (Lustig) Porkka.
As a child he attended school in Liminga, Redridge, and graduated from the Houghton High School. He received his Bachelors Degree in mechanical engineering from Michigan Tech in 1963.
On June 18, 1960, he was united in marriage to the former Margaret Pernaski.
Al worked for Chrysler corporation for 33 years retiring in 1997. After retirement he and his wife spent 18 years in Arizona before moving to Washington in 2016 to be near their children.
Al loved to tell stories of Houghton and growing up on the Porkka farm. He had a knack for tinkering with things and was always interested in how things worked.
Preceding him in death were his parents; 4 sisters, Hilma, Agnes, Milma, Edna; 5 Brothers, Wesley, Emil, William, Abel, Raymond; and daughter, Kathy.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret of Bellevue, WA; daughter, Sarah Porkka of Olympia, WA; son; Joe(Carol) Porkka of Bellevue, WA; 4 Grandchildren, Allison Button, Chelsea Button, Eli Porkka and Owen Porkka; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins
A celebration of life is planned for a later date.
