Nancy Kathleen (Hyrkas) Bohlsen

CALUMET — Nancy Kathleen (Hyrkas) Bohlsen, 66, a resident of Calumet, went home to be with her lord and savior on Wednesday, December 4, 2019.

She was born on January 21, 1953, to Albert and Helmi (Keranen) Hyrkas. She attended the Copper City School before graduating from Calumet High School with the Class of 1971. In 1994, she graduated from Suomi College as a Registered Nurse.

Nancy worked for Calumet Public Hospital, Portage Health, and also worked as a traveling nurse for several years.

In her younger years, she was an avid berry picker and loved making jams, juustoa and baking with her mother. She also enjoyed playing hockey and was on one of the first girls hockey teams.

Her greatest love and joy was her children and her five grandchildren. Nancy enjoyed reading, shopping, crocheting, knitting, and many other crafts. She will be remembered for her beautiful infectious laughter that made everyone smile.

She is preceded in death by her son, Dean Bohlsen; her parents, Albert and Helmi Hyrkas; her two sisters, Betty and Susan; and her brother-in-law, Michael Fletcher.

She is survived by her children, Lori (Dave Luokkanen) Bohlsen of Mohawk, Tricia (Dave) McKinstry of Traprock, Robert Bohlsen of Laurium; her grandchildren, Jacob Luokkanen, Aili McKinstry, Eli McKinstry, Camden Bohlsen, and Keegan Bohlsen; her brothers and sisters, John (Teri) Hyrkas of Zimmerman, Minn., William (Karen) Hyrkas of Traprock, Kenneth (Lana) Hyrkas of Mayflower, Ronald (Amy) Hyrkas of Traprock, Michael Hyrkas of Traprock, Gordon Hyrkas of Traprock, Mary Hyrkas of Dewitt, Patricia (Craig) Pemble of Mohawk; along with Larry Bohlsen and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The funeral service will be held at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home on Saturday, December 7, 2019, at 3 p.m. with Pastor Tony Laidlaw to officiate.

Friends may call at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home on Saturday, December 7, 2019, from 12 p.m. until the time of the service.

Burial will take place in the spring at Lake View Cemetery in Calumet.
