Barbara A. ‘Barb’ Cline

SOUTH RANGE — Barbara A. “Barb” Cline, 75, of South Range, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 1, 2020, at UP Health System Portage with family by her side.

She was born December 2, 1944, in Escanaba, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Irene (Poupore) Velmer, and was a 1983 graduate of the Jeffers High School. On July 21, 1962, she married Kenneth Cline at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in L’Anse.

Barb was employed for 23 years with the Adams Township School District, retiring as head cook.

Barb was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church of South Range. She loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, some of whom she was still babysitting for. They will always remember playing with grandma and the horseback rides she gave them. Barb enjoyed crocheting and going for daily walks.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gary in 1991; and four brothers, Kenneth, James, Joey and Melvin.

She is survived by her husband, Ken of South Range; a son, Donald (Michelle) of South Range; a daughter, Cindy (Steve) Raffaelli of Toivola; three grandchildren, Tara and Dustin Raffaelli and Travis Cline; two great-grandchildren, Madden and Tripp; two brothers, Robert (Shirley) Velmer and Richard (Donna) Velmer; three sisters, Carol Lafernier, Patsy Velmer and Rosemary (William) Heikkinen; a brother-in-law, John (Helen) Cline; six sisters-in-law, Roseanne Perala, Sara (Wayne) Rodemeier, Grace Mikkola, Theresa Velmer, Eleanor Velmer and Ethel Vizna; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2020, at Holy Family Catholic Church in South Range, with Fr. John Martignon as celebrant. Visitation will be from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in the spring at the Mountain View Cemetery in South Range.
