David Mark Jarvi

DOLLAR BAY — David Mark Jarvi, 55, of Dollar Bay, passed away at 3:58 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2020, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on March 23, 1964, to Noreen (Koski) Hodges and Paul Jarvi.

He was united in marriage to the former Amy Rantamaki on August 23, 1996.

David worked for many years at McGrath Roofing before going to truck driving school, obtaining his Class A CDL. He then went on to drive truck for Vollwerth & Company for several years, and most recently, he worked at Calumet Electronics before his diagnosis.

David loved to hunt and fish with his sons. He was always a jokester and loved to make people laugh right up to the end. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

David was preceded in death by his father, Paul Jarvi; his mother, Noreen (Koski) Hodges; step-father, Earl Hodges; and his brothers, Robert and Douglas Jarvi. He is survived by his wife, Amy; sons, Tyler (Megan) Jarvi and Zachary; daughter, Nichole (Jeremy) Este; three grandchildren, Keela and Keegan Este, and Jaylyn Huuki; sisters, Kathy (Bill) Jacques and Diane (Duane) McLaughlin; brothers, Mike (Allison) Jarvi and Ken (Carrie) Hodges; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 28, 2020, at 1 p.m. at the Jukuri-Antila Funeral Home in Hancock, with Pastor T.J. Stauffer to officiate. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton. In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate any donations be made to Antila Funeral Service to help defray funeral costs.
