Bob ‘Barney’ Baranowski

CALUMET — Bob “Barney” Baranowski, 76, of Calumet, passed away September 13, 2021, at UP Health System – Marquette.

Bob was born on November 6, 1944, in Calumet, son of Leo and Gladys (Johnson) Baranowski.

He graduated Calumet High School he was an outstanding football player. He played on Calumet varsity football team all four years of high school. He then attended Northern Michigan University for a short time.

On July 1, 1967, he married the love of his life Sharon “Penny” Penpraze.

He was a machinist and worked at Williams Parts and Supply for 37 years before retiring.

In his younger years he loved baseball, hockey, pool, hunting, fishing and golfing.

He is a former member of the Calumet Elks.

He was preceded in death by, sisters; June Lewandowski, Bea Radeke, Deena Jarve; brothers, Jerry Baranowski, Jake Baranowski and Richard Baranowski

He is survived by his wife Sharon, “Penny” Baranowski; brother, Phil (Jayne Harvey) Baranowski; sister, Loretta Rowe; daughter, Jennifer (Ken) Kauppila; Grandchildren, Jake, Sam, Tessa, and Claire brother and sister in Law, David and Dorothy Murvich, Tom and J Penpraze many special nieces and nephews and friends that he loved dearly.

A memorial service will be held on Friday September 24. 2021, at 1 p.m. in the Calumet United Methodist Church with Pastor James Mathews to officiate. Visitation will be from 12 – 1 p.m. in the church on Friday.

The Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet is assisting the family with the arrangements.
