Donna Wegner
May 9, 1945 - Oct. 7, 2024

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Donna Ruth (Outinen) Wegner, 79, passed away peacefully at Shannondale Care Center on Oct. 7, 2024. Donna was born on May 9, 1945, in Hancock, daughter of Leo Outinen and Ruth (Nevala) Outinen.
Donna graduated from Baraga H.S. in 1963 and married Rodney Lee Wegner on May 27, 1967. Like any marriage, there were ups and downs, but they loved each other dearly and were always there for each other during their greatest times of need throughout their 54 year marriage.
Donna worked in banking in Massena, New York, until 1981 before dedicating herself to being a full-time mother and homemaker after moving to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Donna and Rod were passionate about travel and visited locations across the country and the world, including Hawaii, South America, Australia, Europe and Asia. Donna’s other passions were her family, scrapbooking and Pittsburgh sports.
She supported her boys in all sports, especially ice hockey, where she and Rod were fixtures at the hockey rink when they were growing up.
Donna collected a wide variety of items from trinkets to interesting articles from newspapers and magazines. She loved her show-and-tell time and would share her treasures with anyone who would listen.
Donna was an avid supporter of the Penguins, Steelers and Pirates and would frequently don black and gold attire with great pride.
She will be dearly missed by her family and friends
Surviving are her brother, Paul of Baraga; her sons, Dean (Kelly) Wegner of Nashville, Tennessee, Darren (Ann) Wegner of Knoxville; and six grandchildren, Kara, Kayla, Dylan, Eskel, Ella and Leo; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Rodney; her parents; and sister, Myrna of Green Bay, Wisconsin.
At Donna’s request, there will not be a memorial service.
