Mary Cornish

CALUMET — Mary Cornish, 93, a resident of Calumet, passed away on Monday, June 23, 2025, at Garden View Assisted Living in Calumet following a short illness.

Married for the last 32 years to Patrick Cornish, the couple enjoyed traveling to Florida and Arizona in the winter to spend time together with many new friends. Locally, Mary and Pat were frequent patrons of many restaurants, especially Toni’s.

Mary had a servant’s heart and was always trying to help someone in need. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle in Calumet.

She will always be remembered by her family for her homemade pizzas, making jam, the fun of going to rummage sales, building puzzles and baking together.

Preceded Mary in death were her first husband, Walter Riedy; sons, Michael and Tom; and sisters, Dorothy and Beatrice.

She is survived by her husband, Patrick Cornish; sons, Ken Riedy and Walter Riedy; daughters, Pat (Dave) Skutt, Sue (Larry) Hubbard, and Mary Ann (Steve) Krug; a brother, Robert Manderfield; along with numerous nieces, nephews, the Cornish Family, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild; and her beloved dog, Shadow.

A mass of Christian burial for Mary will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, June 27, 2025, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Calumet with Fr. Gracious Pulimoottil to officiate. Burial will take place at a later date in the Chassell Cemetery.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 4-6 p.m. at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Hancock.

The family would like to thank the staff at Garden View for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice, 520 N. 32nd Ave, Wausau, WI 54401 in memory of Mary Cornish.
