Michael Sloan

Mr. Michael Stuart Sloan of Toney, Alabama, passed away on Friday at his home with his wife and family by his side. He was 84.
Michael was an intelligent man with many talents. He held a master’s degree in accounting but spent his career in the steel industry in Philadelphia before moving to the Huntsville area.
After his retirement, he worked in the hotel industry as a desk clerk until the last few weeks of his life. His outgoing personality and love for people insured that he never met a stranger. He had a sincere care for others and faithfully donated blood for over 50 years.
He was was preceded in death by his first wife, Lenita Cardin Sloan; his parents, Paul and Laverne Sloan; and his sister, Paula Banfield. He was also preceded in death by a sister as a child.
Surviving family members include his wife, Valerie Sloan; his daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Ron Comer; his step-son, Tim Atchley; his step-children, Andre Nwamba, Christina and Jimmy Earskine, and Gabriel Wilson; his grandchildren, Corey (who he referred to as “My Boy”) and Amy Schauder, Ronnie Comer, Timothy and Melissa Atchley, Cameron Earskine, and Donovan Earskine; his great-grandchildren, Alisa Schauder and Kellen Roberts; his two brothers, Ed Sloan and Dick Sloan; and a host of other family members and friends who loved him.
Michael will be remembered for his love for the people around him, easily considering everyone his family, his kind heart, and for being willing to share advice. This Red Budweiser’s for you!
