Peter LaCasse
March 15, 1961 - Nov. 12, 2025
Peter Raymond LaCasse, 64, of Ontonagon, was welcomed into the arms of his Savior on Nov. 12, 2025, at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield, Wisconsin, after a life marked by faith, family, and faithful service.
He was born on March 15, 1961, in Laurium, to Roland and Virginia LaCasse. Peter grew up enjoying sports and spending time with family and friends, especially around Lake Superior. His friends and family called him “Suts”, a nickname he inherited from his father.
A proud 1979 graduate of Lake Linden-Hubbell High School, Peter answered the call to serve his country in January 1984, enlisting in the United States Air Force. Over two decades, he rose to the rank of Master Sergeant, retiring honorably in October 2004. His assignments took him across the globe–Lackland AFB in Texas, Incirlik AB in Turkey, Falcon AFB in Colorado, Yokota AB in Japan, and Offutt AFB in Nebraska–where he humbly served with excellence in communications, project management, and intelligence support.
Peter was a lifelong fan of the Detroit Lions, Tigers, Red Wings, Pistons and Michigan Wolverines. His love for sports was all encompassing to include playing, watching, and attending games. From coaching his children in youth sports to watching his family compete, sports were always something that brought immense joy to his life. His passion for music, especially rock and roll, served as a powerful way to connect with those around him. Peter and Dawn were blessed to spend the last eleven years skiing, golfing, traveling and visiting family and friends. He is remembered as a loving, generous, kind-hearted and family-oriented soul. He will be deeply missed by his family and his many friends.
Peter is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Dawn LaCasse; children, Peter (Ashley) LaCasse Jr. of Misawa, Japan and Monica (Nicholas) Brummer of Wilmington, North Carolina; cherished grandson, Braylon LaCasse of Misawa, Japan; siblings, Donna (James) Richards, Terry LaCasse, Tammy Wahtola, Timmy LaCasse, and Tommy LaCasse; step mother-in-law Nancy Lumbard; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends who became family.
He was preceded in death by his son, Kirk LaCasse; parents, Roland and Virginia LaCasse; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Louis Roy and Norma Jean Lumbard; and siblings, Linda Crispino, Kevin LaCasse, and Susan LaCasse.
Services are scheduled for Monday, Nov. 24, 2025, at St Paul’s United Methodist Church in Rockland. Visitation will be at 10 a.m., followed by the funeral at 11 a.m. A reception and luncheon will follow at the church. Weather permitting the burial will be at 2 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Ontonagon. Pastor Pete LaMoine will officiate the service.
