To the editor:

Recently the Rotary Club of Houghton hosted a conference drawing Rotarians from the Upper Peninsula, Wisconsin, Iowa, South Carolina and Hawaii. Thanks to the staff at Michigan Tech where our conference sessions were held and the Magnuson-Franklin Square Hotel, participants were treated to an outstanding experience!

They enjoyed some great entertainment including The Garden City Hot Club featuring Steve Jones and Harpist Sidney Butler. We thank Portage Health and Edward Jones for their support of this event.

We are also appreciative of the support from the Blue Iris, Industrial Graphics, Magnuson-Franklin Square Hotel, Michigan Tech University, Psychology Associates, the Print Shop of Houghton, R & A Transportation, Range Bank and Wells Fargo Bank. Attendees commented on the excellent service and outstanding venue and appreciated the informative brochures provided by the Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce and Tourist Bureau. Most notably the friendliness of the people of Houghton came through and many of these folks will return to visit another day. Once again, Houghton shines as a friendly place to live and visit!
