The Bible can affirm faith

To the editor:

About five months ago, a writer talked about “faith,” mentioning it no less than 14 times in his letter (DMG 12-18-13). Another of his concerns was “evidence” or “sufficient evidence” which appeared nine times.

The bible says, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Heb 11:1)

“Unbelief is actually perverted faith, for it puts its trust not in the living God but in dying men. The unbeliever denies the self-sufficiency of God and usurps attributes that are not his. This dual sin dishonors God and ultimately destroys the soul of man.”-A.W. Tozer (1897-1963)

I don’t believe that ignorance is superior to empirical knowledge. I’m ignorant on lots of topics. But I know the earth is free floating and moves in an orbit. Science has not only verified this but it is also mentioned in the bible in Job 26:7 “He…hangeth the earth upon nothing.” How is this possible except it was created by God? Science can’t explain how this happened. Don’t you dare go Big Bang fairy tale on me. That story is for immature, child-like minds.

I’m grateful to Mr. Keranen for one thing: his missives encourage me to go to the bible to reaffirm my faith.
