Board does act as banana republic
To the editor:
The recent characterization of the Chassell Township Board to a banana republic is not without merit.
Over 1,000 citizens just participated in a sham election. Nepotism is alive and well on our board. We can’t hold a local election properly.
What will happen during a presidential election? Will supervisor David Mattson and his posse (June Michaelson-Haataja excluded) continue to stubbornly refuse to acknowledge the validity of the majority vote?
This is an incredible embarrassment for Chassell and Michigan politics. Clearly, the board has duped the the Chassell voters. Obviously, we have no voice in how we are ruled.
We (the majority) request David Mattson, rescind the decision to re-do a legally arrived at majority vote.
As voters we must not continue to participate in this farce. Join me at the polls in November to elect board members with respect for democracy!
