Others shouldn’t pay for my usage
To the editor:
There has been much discussion concerning whether Chassell Township should withdraw from or remain in the Portage Lake District Library, and I also would like to briefly state my primary reason for supporting withdrawal.
I am a resident and voter in Chassell Township but not a property owner. Therefore, those who do own property and pay property taxes currently have to pay for my library usage. I don’t believe it would be fair or right on my part to vote to remain in the library district, and thus force the property owners to continue paying for my library usage.
I urge my fellow Chassell resident, nonproperty taxpayers to be considerate of those who do pay property taxes and join me in voting “Yes” on this proposal in November.
