After this summer’s Father’s Day flood, it’s increasingly important that we respond to climate change to protect our community.

Last week, two Republican and three Democratic representatives introduced bipartisan legislation that could go a long way towards reducing our risks. The Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act puts a fee on fossil fuels like coal, oil, and gas. It will drive down carbon pollution because energy companies, industries, and consumers will move toward cleaner, cheaper options.

The money collected from the carbon fee is allocated in equal shares every month to American families to spend as they see fit. This policy will drive down America’s carbon pollution and bring climate change under control, while unleashing American technology innovation and ingenuity.

It’s an effective, bipartisan climate solution that is good for people and good for the economy.
