No kid without a Christmas

To the editor:

2019 was the 21st year for the Keweenaw County “No Kid Without a Christmas” program, and because of the unbelievable support from the people of Keweenaw it was another great success! Thanks to their generosity, we were able to assist dozens of families who otherwise may have gone without during this past holiday season.

Our donors, volunteers and community partners make this program possible, and they really made it magical for the children once again. I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the many individuals who donated to the program this year, without your help this program would not exist.

I would also like to thank the following businesses and organizations who make this all possible: At Last Gourmet Foods, the CLK Rotary Club, EDOCHI LLC, Koppers, The Eagle Harbor Inn, The Eagle Harbor Ladies for the parent gift cards and fundraiser, Copper Harbor’s Winter Wonderfest for the bake sale, Bethany Lutheran – Shepherd of the Sea, Mohawk-Ahmeek Methodist church, The Daily Mining Gazette, Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center, Aspirus Keweenaw, Superior National Bank, Pasty Central LLC, CLK Sportsman’s Club, The Gay Bar, The Galacia tavern, Sickler Industries, Rinne’s Fuel & Excavating, Slim’s Café, American Legion Post 230, VFW post 3900, Keweenaw Title Agency, Birds Eye Creations, SEMCO, GS Engineering, The Country Village Shop Latoski Inc, Wingard Construction, Betterly Painting, Mohawk Superette, The Gallery on 5th, Episcopal Diocese of Nortern MI, Mightybytes Inc, Phoenix Store, Copper Harbor Fuel Stop, Sunset Bay Campground and Louie’s Market as well as the employees of the DHS who assist with identifying families in need.

I am forever grateful to the many people, businesses and organizations who come together to make our program the success that it is, making sure that the less fortunate children in our community are not forgotten during Christmas. Each year this Office receives many thank you cards and words of gratitude from the families assisted by this program.

I would like to pass these thanks on to you, the people that make this program happen. On behalf of the Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Office, the Keweenaw County Courthouse Elves and most importantly the many children served, Thank You all very much.
