Old Fashioned Christmas pride

To the editor:

For almost 40 years, the community of Chassell has enjoyed an Old Fashioned Christmas. The Old Fashioned Christmas Committee would like to thank the many businesses, groups and individuals that made this year’s event a success. Charles and Kirsten White, DP Construction, Keith and Jeannie Euro, Dieter and Staci Kochan, and Jerry and Anna Hill, thank you for sharing your beautiful homes on our annual House Tour. The Chassell Women’s Club, along with the Bonfire Grill, Applebee’s, Keweenaw Co-op, Roy’s Bakery, Baby E’s BBQ, Suomi Restaurant, Econo Foods, Gino’s and Kaleva Cafe graciously donated food for the House Tour. Walmart also donated treats and flowers for the House Tour. Superintendent Steve Spahn, members of the Chassell High School staff and students were a big help with the Craft Sale. A special thank you to Kriss Bosley, Becky Darling, Julie Meyers, Joanne Moros, Marilyn Swift, Jennifer Promenchenkel and The Feed Mill who donated door prizes for the House Tour. Thank you to all the people that purchased House Tour tickets. Thank you to the generous Chassell organizations and businesses that provided monetary donations.

Dave Bezotte and friend provided wonderful traditional music at the Chassell Heritage Center. Jim and Nicki Lassila, thank you very much for your ‘extra special help’ at the Museum! The unique activities presented by VFW Post 6509, Keweenaw Country Store and the Chassell Fire Department were greatly appreciated. Thank you to The Grooming Zoo, Superior Family Chiropractic and Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau in Calumet for selling Home Tour tickets. Thank you to the Chassell Heritage Center for hosting the music, visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus and cookie decorating. Thank you to the Chassell Heritage Center Board Members for baking the cookies. A special thank you to Tim Viola of the Chassell General Store for his help with the Outdoor Decorating Contest and Home Tour. Thank you to the Chassell Class of 2020 for providing a breakfast and lunch at the school during Old Fashioned Christmas. This year we brought back an event from years ago, an Outdoor Lighting and Decorating Contest. Thank you to the eleven families that participated in the contest and helped to make Chassell more beautiful for our annual event. We hope that more homeowners will participate in future contests. Events like Old Fashioned Christmas require a lot of volunteers, thank you to everyone that participated!
