Voting Blue for Democracy

To the editor:

I read something that scared me more than a Stephen King horror story.  An article in The Atlantic by Barton Gellman laid out all the ways President Trump could steal the election.  We all know that, in the event Trump loses the election, that he will not concede graciously, or even ungraciously, but this is scary stuff.  Then Trump, out loud and publicly, announced that we need to get rid of the ballots (mail-in ballots? all ballots?) and there would be no transfer of power, only a continuation  of power.

He has, for months, been working on eroding the faith in mail-in voting, then sabotaging the Postal Service, and even hinting that he plans on a 3rd term!  If this stuff doesn’t keep you up at night, there is something wrong with you.

President Trump has no scruples, no morals, no integrity, and he has never read or understood the Constitution. All he understands is that power and money are good, and he will do whatever it takes to keep his power.  He admires Putin and other dictators, and seems to thumb his nose at democracy.

He has said nothing about Putin’s poisoning of his enemies; nothing about the supposed bounties Putin put on American soldiers’ heads; nothing about Russia’s continued interference in our elections.

How can anyone think this is OK?  If you care about democracy, if you care about the Constitution, then you will resist these attempts by Trump and the GOP to make a mockery of our institutions.

I, for one, am voting blue for democracy.
