A recent story foretold the improvements at the Quincy Hill Scenic Turnout. My question is “Why?”

Brush removal on MDOT property will solve no problems since the offending trees are mostly on private property on McKinley St. below.

On the other hand, the MDOT parking area up the hill at Cowsit Lats Rd. offers a tremendous view of the Portage Valley. This area is entirely owned by the DOT and will never have a private obstructed view, which is actually far better than the present location.

If we are to spend money, allow the brush to grow and simply move to a far superior location. I’m told that this was in the works until the DOT supervisor retired.
