BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — Tommy Parrottino buried two goals in the second period and one in the third to lead Michigan Tech to a 4-2 win against No. 17 Bowling Green on Saturday at the Slater Family Ice Arena.

Parker Saretsky also scored and Robbie Beydoun had 25 saves in his first start of the season.

“We beat a good hockey team that is really good in their rink,” Tech coach Joe Shawhan said. “I’m very proud of the way the guys played and competed. We grew a lot tonight. I liked our penalty kill and our power play got a goal. We got good goaltending, won big draws at the end, and made plays when we needed to.”

After a scoreless first period, Parker Saretsky gave the Huskies the lead 5:46 into the second. He jammed the puck under the BGSU goaltender after the initial shot was saved. Alec Broetzman assisted.

Bowling Green (4-3, 1-1 WCHA) quickly tied it up 60 seconds later on a goal by Max Johnson. Alex Barber fed a pass out front from behind the net for the primary assist and Brandon Kruse added the secondary.

Parrottino took over from there, scoring a natural hat trick for his first goals of the season. He gave the Black and Gold the lead back at 11:45 of the second. He drifted into the zone and had his first shot deflected, but it came right back to his stick and he buried the rebound. Colin Swoyer was given the assist.

After the Huskies killed off a penalty and Raymond Brice was stopped on a breakaway, Parrottino made it a two-goal lead when he drove hard to the crease and slipped the puck into the back of the net. Logan Pietila and Chris Lipe had the assists on the goal at 18:15.

“I thought Tommy played well last night, and we had a good talk today,” added Shawhan. “He responded to a couple of adjustments and did what he does well. His talent speaks for itself.”

In the third period on the power play, Swoyer took a long shot that was deflected by Broetzman and then Parrottino for a 4-1 lead.

“It was a special night for me,” Parrottino said. “My grandparents were in the building. I haven’t had a hat trick since probably my senior year in high school.”

TJ Lloyd scored for the Falcons to get it back to a two-goal game with 5:33 remaining.

BGSU pulled their goaltender with 3:35 left and then got a power play with 92 seconds left. Beydoun made four saves down the stretch, stopping 11 shots in the third period alone, to seal the victory.
