Purple Hornets fall to Gwinn in four sets on road

GWINN — The L’Anse Purple Hornets played in Gwinn Tuesday against the Modeltowners, and falling in four sets, 23-25, 12-25, 25-20, and 13-25.

“On our side, there was a lot of flatlining,” said Purple Hornets head coach Callie Budweg. “We would have spurts of good plays and then we would make our own mistake.”

Budweg accepts that Tuesday was a growing experience for her girls.

“We’re going to take this game and put it in the back of our mind, and learn and grow from it,” she said. “We had some nice plays at the net when the pass was there.”

Freshman Summer Dudo drove the offense with nine assists. Haley Nankervis picked up six kills. Alexa Stafford was strong on the serve with six aces.

“I thought Summer Dudo came in strong on the second two sets and really contributed to the team tonight,” said Budweg.
