Blue Bolts score big early, earn victory over Nimrods, 92-65

WATERSMEET — With 38 points in the first quarter, the Dollar Bay-Tamarack City Blue Bolts boys basketball team took an insurmountable lead after eight minutes and then matched the Watersmeet Nimrods essentially point-for-point from there in a 92-65 victory Monday on the road.

Ashton Janke led the charge for the Blue Bolts with 17 points in the opening quarter as part of a game-high 25-point night. Janke had seven three pointers on the night.

Davin Hill had nine of his 13 points in the opening quarter as well.

“We scored the ball extremely well tonight,” said Blue Bolts coach Jesse Kentala. “Credit Watersmeet for playing hard and shooting well.”

The Blue Bolts scored 21 points in the third quarter paced by Drake Schmitz’ seven points. Schmitz finished his night with 17 points.

Howard Caron led the way for Watersmeet with 25 points.
