Bulldogs earn Copper Softball Classic title
The Hancock Bulldogs swept the Calumet Copper Kings 8-4 and 5-4 in West Pac action Monday night at Hancock Driving Park. The games also served as the annual Copper Softball Classic which a wards a trophy to the two-game, total-runs winner.
HCH won the trophy this year by a score of 13-8.
In game one, D’Andra Kero went 3-4 including her first career homerun.Emma Almquist added two doubles for Hancock. Delaney Heinonen was the winning pitcher, giving up 3 earned runs, 3 hits and recorded 9 strike outs. Ellie Djerf scored two runs for the Copper Kings.
In game two, Maddie Johnson had a homerun, while Payton Dube and Sophie Heinonen had rbi doubles to help the Bulldogs come back form a 4-0 deficit to win 5-4.
Delaney Heinonen was the winning pitcher for Hancock giving up 3 earned runs, 6 hits and recorded 10 strike outs. Emma Perrala hit a two-run home run for the Copper Kings.
