Superior Service wins opener
Superior Service beat J. Peltier Construction on opening night of Portage Lake Little League Majors action. The game proved to be a well-pitched battle with Superior eeking out the win, 5-3.
All 18 outs recorded by J. Peltier were strikeouts.
For SS, starter Rylan Isaacson, Cameron Anderson, Caleb Isaacson and closer Jadon Packard combined for 12 strikeouts of their own while allowing only two hits.
Leading the way offensively for SS with timely runs and hits were Packard, who had a double, Troy Coffey, Isaac Hiner and Levi Bach, who tripled.
In the bottom of the sixth, Latham Salmi tripled and scored on a passed ball to give SS their final two-run lead.
J. Peltier placed a runner on first, but with the tying run at the plate, Caleb Isaacson caught a pop up to end the contest.
Caleb Kentala also doubled for J. Peltier in the game.
