Calumet’s season, as many predicted, continues in the Division 6 state quarterfinals this weekend.

The Copper Kings (10-1) host Maple City Glen Lake (10-1) in a regional final at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Calumet put Menominee in a vice grip last week with a 39-14 win. Maple City Glen Lake edged past Harrison 38-30.

Calumet head coach John Croze said the team is anticipating Saturday after Maple City Glen Lake defeated the Copper Kings in the 2016 regional, 14-0.

The game will be broadcast on 920 AM and 107.3 FM WMPL with pregame coverage starting at 12:30 p.m.

Calumet racked up 331 yards of offense while holding the Maroons to 188 yards. The Copper Kings had 22 more minutes of offensive possession than Menominee, who never even had an offensive snap in the first quarter.

Calumet is one of four UP teams left in the football playoffs, including three in 11-player.

Iron Mountain (11-0) hosts Traverse City St. Francis (8-3) at 1 p.m. Saturday. Ishpeming (9-2) plays Beal City (10-1) at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Pleasant Community Stadium.

Pickford (10-1) is the lone UP team in the eight-player state semifinals, hosting Hillman (10-1) at 7 p.m. Friday.

The 11-player finals are Saturday, Nov. 30 at Ford Field in Detroit. The eight-player finals are Saturday, Nov. 23 at the Superior Dome in Marquette.
