Men’s Basketball: Huskies host Finlandia

HOUGHTON — It will be cross-canal battle tonight as Michigan Tech hosts the Finlandia University Lions today.

Tip-off is at 6 p.m. and admission to the game will be a cash or canned goods donation to the Husky Food Access Network. The network provides resources for the campus community, including: a campus food pantry, meal swipes, emergency food packets and educational programs.

The Huskies (6-2, 2-0 GLIAC) enter the contest with a four-game win streak on the line and playing well in the eyes of their coach Kevin Luke. While the Lions are a NCAA Division III team facing the Huskies who are a Division II program, Luke is preparing for the game just like any other.

“We will prepare for this one with our friends across the river just like anybody else,” he said. “We will come out strong because they are going to come into our house and give it their best shot. I’m excited about this week.”

The Lions (0-9) are looking for their first win of the season. They almost earned one two weeks ago as the battled the St. Scholastica Saints into overtime only to lose 85-92.

The Huskies host rival NMU at 3 p.m. Sunday.
