Willey commits to Lions baseball

HANCOCK — Anthony Willey (Fox Lake, Ill.) has committed to play for the Finlandia University baseball team.

Willey joins Jake Amshey (Marne, Mich.), Jonah Hunter (Fort Worth, Texas), Nick Savoie (Iowa, La.), Chase Sides (Millport, Ala.) and Jacob Wade (Southaven, Ms.) in the second wave of the 2021 recruiting class. There are 13 total players so far in the class.

“I’m excited to add Anthony to our freshman class. He is a utility player that will fill multiple roles for us,” Finlandia head coach Evan Brandt said. “Defensively, Anthony has the ability to excel in the outfield and infield. He is a smooth player with good upside. Anthony shows good range and an ability to make every play. Offensively he will be a strong hitter at Finlandia as he has great mechanics and a great line drive approach. I’m excited to see Anthony develop here.”
