LAKE LINDEN — After a schedule change this week, the Lake Linden-Hubbell Lakes will face North Central after all.

Both schools were scheduled to play Oct. 10, but the game was rescheduled because of COVID-19 concerns.

The Lakes (2-0), ranked No. 4 in this week’s UP Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association poll, will host the No. 2 North Central Jets in an eight-player football matchup at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ron Warner Field.

The Lakes were originally scheduled to host Newberry on Saturday. Newberry will instead visit Carney-Nadeau this week.

Saturday will be the first matchup between the Lakes and Jets since 2013, a 22-14 Jets’ victory. The schools have played 17 times dating back to 1972. Lake Linden-Hubbell is 10-6-1 against North Central in those meetings, outscoring the Jets by a 340-191 margin.

The Jets (4-0) are ranked No. 2 in both the UPSSA poll and Associated Press poll this week.

North Central won two straight eight-player state championship in 2015 and 2016. The Jets won 28 games in a row from 2014 to 2017. North Central finished the regular season 9-0 last season and 11-1 overall, losing in the regional final against Pickford, which went on to win the Division 2 state championship.

LL-H closes out the regular season at Munising on Friday, Oct. 23.
