Lions bring out SISU in loss to Green Knights

DE PERE, Wis. – It was 60 minutes of SISU as the Finlandia University men’s hockey team (0-4 NCHA, 0-6-1) took a hard fought 3-1 loss to No. 4 St. Norbert (4-0 NCHA, 5-0-1), Saturday afternoon at Cornerstone Center.

Finlandia came out inspired in the opening period. The Lions had two strong scoring chances that were stopped by great plays.

St. Norbert stepped it up a notch and scored twice in the second period. The final period was a back-and-fought battle. Sophomore Max Messier broke up the shutout with 38 seconds left off a pass from freshman James Eng.

Sophomore Dakota Meyer had 39 saves.

Finlandia stopped by Green Knights

DE PERE, Wis. – The Lions lost 7-0 to the Green Knights Friday at Cornerstone Center.

For the first 11 minutes of the game, Finlandia got strong goaltending from Meyer. On top of that, the Lion defense came up with several blocks to keep St. Norbert at bay.

The Green Knights managed to sneak two goals in to take a 2-0 lead. FinnU had several strong chances that just missed as the period ended. SNC pulled away with three goals in the middle period.

Meyer finished with 35 saves.

Up next

Finlandia returns home, Saturday, Dec. 3, taking on Lake Forest. The game is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
